Aldemar Matias (1985, Manaus) is a film director graduate of EICTV (Escuela Internacional de Cine y TV de Cuba) and a Berlinale Talents Alumni. Matias' work has been honored internationally with several awards including the Jury Prizes of DocumentaMadrid and San Sebastián. Parente (2011), his documentary about HIV testing in the Yanomami villages in the Amazon, was funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and was acquired by the Brazilian Ministry of Health. When I Get Home (2014) received the awards of Film Of The Year and Best Documentary at The Watersprite Festival, in Cambridge. El Enemigo (2015), his latest film shot in Havana, had its world premiere at Visions du Réel and was selected in Dok Leipzig, Tel Aviv, Doc Buenos Aires, True/False, Filmer a Tout Prix, Biarritz, Rencontres de Toulouse, among others. He’s currently developing his next film called Pressure Points.
